In November 2024, I had the pleasure of exhibiting my photographic work at the Centre Culturel de l’Avant Poste in Le Raincy, in suburb of Paris, for a month-long exhibition entirely dedicated to a subject that has always fascinated me: the subway.
This place of transit often seen as functional, impersonal, noisy, even hostile is, to me, a closed-roof theater. A space of observation, contrast, and raw poetry. The subway is the visible underside of cities: where silence meets glances, hurried departures, and suspended moments of waiting.
Throughout this exhibition, I aimed to capture what we no longer see. Fleeting moments, caught on the spot, where humanity emerges in all its vulnerability or strength.
The subway, as it is: alive, raw, sincere.
The Raincy Cultural Center offered me a space that was both understated and generous, allowing the prints to breathe, and the images to converse with one another and with the public.
I warmly thank the entire cultural center team for their welcome, trust, and support, as well as all those who took the time to come, to exchange, to pause.
Update – July 1st, 2025
We have learned with regret that the venue will be closing this Friday, July 4th. For those who wish to visit and pay a final tribute, there’s still a little time.
